This year, some of London’s hottest chefs and West London’s home of authentic Italian pizza, Pizzicotto, will come head to head to raise money for Action Against Hunger in one of the most exciting events in London: The Gourmet Pizza Challenge.
Launching on October 30th at Pizzicotto, the Gourmet Pizza Challenge will see Pizzicotto’s pizziaiolos pitched against Michelin-starred chefs such as The Ninth’s Jun Tanaka and Club Gascon’s Pascal Aussignac create their own unique pizza recipes using their international influences and culinary styles. This one-off challenge will defy expectations of the classic Italian pizza, with toppings inspired by all corners of the globe – from Scandinavia to India.
Who can make the public’s favourite pizza? The pizzas will be sold throughout November at Pizzicotto (with 50% of the proceeds from every pizza going to Action Against Hunger). The chef whose pizza sells the most will be crowned the winner of the Gourmet Pizza Challenge, with the prize of their pizza remaining on the Pizzicotto menu for good. £1 from the sale of this pizza will continue to go to Action Against Hunger.
Also taking part will be Robin Gill (The Manor, The Dairy, Paradise Garage and Counter Culture), Vivek Singh (The Cinnamon Club), Anna Hansen (The Modern Pantry), Steve Groves (Roux at Parliament Square) and Adam Handling (The Frog E1).
The money raised by The Gourmet Pizza Challenge will help the humanitarian organisation in their commitment to save the lives of malnourished children and ensure families can access clean water, food, training and healthcare. Last year alone, they helped over 14.9 million people in nearly 50 countries worldwide.
James Chiavarini, owner of Pizzicotto, says “We are delighted to be helping to fundraise for Action Against Hunger with this fantastic line up of chefs. We have such a broad range of chefs creating their pizzas – I’m excited to see what toppings they come up with. Pizza dough is such a versatile base; you can really put almost anything on it.”
Book your tickets now for the launch on October 30th, where there will be the one-off opportunity to try all the pizzas from these seven incredible chefs. Tickets are £40 and include a cocktail, starter, the pizzas to share and a dessert.
